This real-life example of how Aurum reduced radiation exposure occurred in a Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility in Idaho Falls, ID:

Company A is located immediately adjacent to Company B.  Radiation levels in Company A’s facility can be impacted by the work being performed by Company B.  Company B was performing an activity that may change dose rates in Company A’s facility and notified them of the work to be performed.  Company A set up Aurum Technologies’ radiation safety application with multiple area monitors feeding the system.  Company B sent 2 technicians to Company A’s facility to perform surveys.

As many nuclear operations goes, this work was delayed by 90 minutes.  The 2 technicians from Company B, patiently waited for work to progress.  The technician for Company A set personal alarms for each of the area monitors so they would be notified of any increase in dose rates and then went back to work, performing their normal duties.

When the work commenced, the technician from Company A received notification of increased dose rates – from somewhere completely different in the facility – and was able to record 4 different peak dose rates for the work.  When dose rates returned to normal, this technician compared notes with the technicians for Company B.

Company B was able to obtain 2 peak dose rate readings with 2 personnel.  Company A was able to obtain 4 peak dose rate readings with 1 person.  Personnel from Company B were exposed to the radiation streaming from the work and received 10mRem total dose.  The technician for Company A received no exposure.

Company A was able to have the technician working through the downtime, obtained twice the dose rate readings, and received no radiation exposure.  This essentially turned the one technician from Company A into 5 personnel and increased safety overall.
